A great crowd on hand for the Red/White Scrimmage

      It was a great evening on the mats Wednesday as the Southern Garrett Wrestling Team put on the annual Red/White Scrimmage.  There was a great crowd in the Ram Arena, and they were treated to some outstanding matches.  In the end, "The Pretty Boyz", led by captains Seth Kisner, Austin Shaffer and Justyce Fulmer defeated "The Rednecks" led by captains Brian Rinker, Tanner Massey and Will Foulke by the score of 41-29.

      After the first 5 bouts, the white team had built an impressive 22-3 lead with pins by Shaffer, Devan Hamrick and Keith Chapman and a major decision by Kisner.  The red team would battle back, winning 6 of the next 10 bouts, receiving pins from Josh King and Brad Clary and major decisions from Will Foulke and George Zimmerman.

 

      The evening ended with one of the most exciting bouts of the day.  Newcomers Ty Artice and Jake Kosiarski went head to head in the final match.  Both of these new wrestlers fought hard and did so many of the new moves they had just learned.  The match went back and forth with the momentum shifting nearly every 30 seconds.  In a flurry of action at the end, Artice was able to tie the score and send the bout into overtime.  In the extra period, Artice came out on top with a takedown to pick up the win for The Pretty Boyz.

      What a great night of wrestling and a great tune-up for Saturday's opening day vs. Oakdale and Allegany.  Wrestling starts at 4pm in Cumberland.
