The Southern Rams took the mat Monday evening in a match against Frankfort High School from Short Gag, WV. The 3-0 Rams set out to keep the undefeated season alive and had little trouble accomplishing that task. In the end, Southern scored a huge 65-12 win which included 7 wins by pin.

The Southern Rams took the mat Monday evening in a match against Frankfort High School from Short Gag, WV. The 3-0 Rams set out to keep the undefeated season alive and had little trouble accomplishing that task. In the end, Southern scored a huge 65-12 win which included 7 wins by pin.
The match started at 132 with freshman Jimmy Schwab. Jimmy dominated the match and picked up the tech fall giving Southern a 5-0 lead. At 138, another freshman hit the mat. Erik Fike wasted no time in pinning his Falcon opponent, extending Southern's lead to 11-0. Tanner Massey added a pin at 145 and the Rams were off to a great start.
Justyce Fulmer was next at 152 and controlled his man throughout the match and earned a 9-2 victory. Senior co-captains Will Foulke and Seth Kisner added pins at 160 and 170 and the rout was on, bringing the team score to 32-0. Frankfort picked up their first win at 182 as Dalton Cooper lost for the first time of the season. Brian Rinker was given a forfeit at 195 giving the Rams a 38-6 lead.
The marque match-up of the evening was at 215. Senior Keith Chapman spent most almost the entire match behind after giving up 5 early points. Keith fought back and earned the come-from-behind victory in the third period. Sophomore Marcus Tichinel picked up his second pin of the season at 285 and the Rams led 47-6 going into the lower weights.
The Falcons chose to forfeit to Devan Hamrick at 106 and they picked up their final win of the evening at 113. At 120, Austin Shaffer earned another pin and junior Josh King scored his team-leading 4th pin of the young season to close out the 65-12 victory for the Rams.
Remaining unbeaten for Southern were Devan Hamrick, Austin Shaffer, Josh King and Seth Kisner. There is a long list of Rams sitting at 3-1 after the first four matches. Up next, the Southern Rams travel to Musselman this weekend for a tough dual meet tournament starting on Friday afternoon.
